Jonah and the Great Fish Artwork

Jonah and the Great Fish Artwork

This is a line drawing illustration based on the Biblical story of Jonah and the Great Fish.

“Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights”
(Jonah 1:17)

Historically many artists have tried to render this Biblical story in their artworks. Such as the following two.

"Jonah and the Whale” by Pieter Lastman, 1621
“Jonah Bible Illustration” by unknown artist, circa 1280

This is an attempt to render this in a more realistic scale. It is known that the largest whale on the earth is around 18m in length. After studying the anatomy of it the following illustration is done. Assuming Jonah was swallowed into the stomach (belly) of the whale.

Adding the blue background which represents the deep blue sea. The following artwork is done.

Thanks.
